Police found suspected drug trafficking tools but no drugs
Police have released two men they questioned in connection with a stash of electronic equipment and automatic weapons suspected to be the property of drug dealers.
The stash was found during an anti drug operation on a farm land off mile three and a half on the Consejo Road near Corozal Town on Thursday last, April 13.
No one or drugs were found on the farm, but police say they confiscated a Bushmaster brand AR-15 rifle, three AK-47 rifles, two pump action shotguns, a red Wooden brand rifle and an assortment of various calibre ammunition.
Also found was a number of hand held and base set radios and charges, batteries, adapters and antennas, satellite phones and bag cellular phones.
The bust also includes a Global Position System, two night vision goggles, camouflage clothing and two Igloo ice coolers.
Police have declined to say whose property the stash was found on, but that the farmland has on it a concrete store room and a pimento house with thatch roofing.
Consejo Shore area is located on the coast of the Corozal District and is just about five miles from the nearby Mexican coastal city of Chetumal.
