Hurricane Emily reaches Quintana Roo coast
Monday, 18th of July 2005, Hurricane Emily reached the Quintana Roo coast. Emily had grown to a category 4 hurricane by then. The Yucatan coast survived Emily's wind and rain much better than most had expected. Emily struck land between Playa del Carmen and Tulum. The Mexican Government was well prepared and thousands of people were evacuated land inwards.
